When Meow Wolf expanded into Texas with new locations in Dallas and Houston, they brought their signature immersive, boundary-breaking art experiences—each filled with vivid storytelling, imaginative sets, and unconventional design elements. Odeum was brought in to provide labor support for the installation of both venues.

The challenge was layered. We were new to the Texas market, and the project required building a team from the ground up—one that could match the creative diversity and technical range of Meow Wolf’s artists and designers. The work demanded a hybrid skill set: equal parts theatrical, construction, scenic, and permanent installation. Each space was also an active construction site, requiring careful coordination with GCs, other vendors, and tight safety and workflow standards. Just like Meow Wolf itself, the solutions had to be nontraditional, agile, and highly collaborative.

To meet Meow Wolf’s needs, Odeum built a team rooted in local Texas talent. We recruited, vetted, and deployed a full roster of finish carpenters, scenic artists, truck loaders, and crew leads—every person hired from the local labor pool. Our commitment to hiring local wasn’t just logistical; it was strategic. It allowed us to integrate with the community and provide cost-effective, high-quality labor that aligned with Odeum’s standards.

We didn’t just support Meow Wolf directly—we also assisted several of their partner vendors with a labor solution that matched their unique needs. Our managers worked closely with the artists and GCs onsite, ensuring that workflows were uninterrupted, creativity could thrive, and safety remained a constant.

Our first successful execution in Dallas set the stage for Meow Wolf to invite us back for their Houston installation—a testament to the trust and results built in round one.

Both the Dallas and Houston locations opened to critical and popular acclaim.
